Looking for some good Thai food. Then the places you don't want to walk into are the one's that say "Thai Food Served Here." Most of these restaurants in Phuket that proclaim that they serve Thai food usually cook their food to suit Farang taste buds. But as a traveler you really need to get the real flavor and taste.
Here are some good cheap Thai food restaurants in Phuket town that serve excellent and authentic Thai food.
1. Wattanapol Restaurant -
Run by a group of grandma's this place is one my personal favorites. Their specialty si Curry Puffs with Chicken and Shrimp stuffings. They fry these in the afternoon and if you are lucky enough you might get to these nice and hot with a special cucumber sauce. They also have an extensive breakfast and lunch menu. Try their Curry Fish for lunch. Prices Range from 30 to 50 Baht. You can also have some good steaks for about B 70 to B 80.
The restaurant is only open daily for breakfast and lunch.
2. I M A Roi -
The name literally means IM Tasty (A'roi means tasty in Thai). This restaurant is situated right next to Wattanapol restaurant and serves some great Thai food. One of their signature dishes is the Baked Rice with Plum. Also, one must try their Longan Juice.
Apart from that they offer a good range of vegetarian and meat options. If you are a vegetarian and like to try some spicy food, try their Veg Spicy Spaghetti and ask for some Oregano to go with it. Dishes at this restaurant range from B 30 to B 60.
They are open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
